Wanted: Senior Health and Care Leaders to Join the SW Clinical Senate Council (Closing Date: 23.09.2021)

Some exciting opportunities have arisen in our South West Senate Council.

We are looking for senior health and social care leaders or clinicians with experience of working across boundaries at a national or regional level and who are actively involved in healthcare delivery. Our current vacancies are in the following areas: social care, dentistry, community nursing and specialty medicine.

The South West Clinical Senate provides free, fully independent, and impartial clinical advice on plans for service change that have significant implications for patients and the public. The Senate Council is the ‘steering group’ of the Clinical Senate and its members are responsible for the formulation and provision of our clinical advice.

You will join a core multi-disciplinary steering group of around 49 clinicians from across health and social care and two Citizens’ Assembly representatives. The council meets four to six times a year and oversees all senate business. Members are appointed for one year, extendable by mutual agreement up to three years.

The post is not remunerated, and your fixed-time commitment is the attendance of a minimum of three meetings per year. These are currently being held virtually but are likely to revert to face-to-face meetings as we come out of the pandemic. Your further time commitment is flexible depending upon your involvement in specific expert panels for individual reviews.
